New city center at Štětkovice village square. The main urban elements of the new buildings – chapel, city hall and grocery store, mimic the style of the existing buildings. The new buildings are divided into smaller masses to soften the transition between the old and new, making it gradual, flowing and in close to the country style. The buildings were designed as simple U shaped buildings, bringing clear structure to the village.

In urban terms, the heart of a village is its square. The village square on one side borders with the city hall, chapel and grocery store buildings. The other side is lined by the existing buildings. The third and forth sides are lined by sidewalks leading to the chapel and local church. The sidewalks meet at the pond. The overall urban design of this part of the village also includes a new road deflecting traffic from the center.

The architectural design of the buildings is based on the principal idea of the urban design – creating a new center of the village. The buildings are regular, rectangular-shaped. The shape of the buildings is based on the rectangular shape of typical village farmhouses. The city hall and grocery store create one mass, and the chapel second.

The city hall entrance is accentuated by its location on the corner and size of the entrance door, which is symbolically complemented by a clock. The sidewalk in front of the city hall, grocery store and chapel is widened and intended to encourage informal gatherings.

The new street corners match the existing private houses with rectangular shape and saddle roofs. The buildings have no underground floors, only one aboveground floor.

The design also included complete landscaping of the village square. Future plans include a playhouse with traffic playground. The following phase will include the remodeling of the pond and construction of a deck.
