Duhovka Kindergarten

In areal of Hergetova cihelna in Malá Strana grew up new kindergarten of Montessori type. Existing facilities didn´t need any radical reconstruction by reason of recent renovation (read more). That is why only a change of the object´s function was followed. Changeover is most visible in sanitary background, which now has a function of children´s lavatory. Rest of the interior also had to be technologically adapted to his new role. Entrance area is newly completed with bike stands and major part of this space is protected by shielding curtain. Fact that kindergarten belongs to Montessori educational system is reflected in interior structure. Alongside entrance to the space of kindergarten is a hall and changing-room for children. In one complex there is a class with different working areas like mini kitchen used for education of life in practice, another space for language, cosmic and sensual education. In the middle of each educational area is a place used for creating a community circle. The main class is also divided into individual working fields according to Montessori philosophy and in the middle there is a space for community circle designed for collective activities. Central room is flanked by open shelves that make all tools available. In lower basement there is a playroom and kitchen unit used for output of prepared meals. The construction didn´t come to important changes. Within reconstruction were solved especially hydro isolation and redevelopment measures against leakage. Outdoor activities currently take place in nearby park Vojanovy sady. At the same time there is smaller wooden sun deck and adjoining flower-bed dedicated only for kindergarten´s purposes. In front of building there is a free space, which is going to be arranged for purposes of kindergarten.
